Edward Dolch who created lists of the most frequently used words in children's literature from the 1930-1940's (kinda outdated). The Dolch Sight Words list can be found here, and they're based on a study by Dr. They're both lists of words that schools use to determine which words to teach. You might have heard of Dolch sight words and Fry sight words. Words like of, the, could, and is just don't sound like they're spelled! They're also commonly called "high frequency words."
